On the morning of August 7th 2018, Vietnam’s Association of Arts, along with Nguyen Dinh Chieu Association of Literature and Arts (Ben Tre) opened the 23rd Exhibition of Arts of the Mekong Delta (Region VIII).
The exhibition took place 7 – 15 August, 2018. There exhibits 199 artistic works of painting, carving, or applied arts that had been selected out of 350 photos of them done by 244 artists from 13 different provinces in Mekong Delta. In regard to An Giang, fourteen works created by 13 different artists, among whom are 3 lecturers of Department of Tourism and Cultures – Arts (AGU) with 4 works, were chosen to be exhibited at the event.

Interestingly, the Central Assembly of Arts – Vietnam’s Association of Arts, and the exhibition organizers awarded 8 prizes to the artists who are the members of the association in the region, including: 1 A-level Prize (Silk painting: “Go luoi” by Pham Thanh Hung, Department of Tourism and Cultures – Arts, AGU), 1 B-level Prize (Carving: “Tao dang” by Nguyen Pham Anh Thy, Ben Tre), 1 C-level Prize (Statue: “Tan truong – Nguyen Huu Thien, Ben Tre) and 5 encouragement prizes.

Moreover, the Central Assembly of Arts also awarded 13 other prizes to the artists who are not yet the members of the association, including 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, and 7 encouragement prizes. The oil painting “O cua 2” by Vo Tuan (Department of Tourism and Cultures – Arts, AGU) was honored to be nominated for the prize awarded by the National Committee of all the Associations of Literature – Arts in Vietnam.
