On the morning of April 15, 2017, An Giang University held a board meeting to evaluate the training program of Mathematics Teacher Education of university level.
The appraisal council is composed of 5 members; Chairman of the Council – Dr. Nguyen Van Hong (Deputy Director of Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City); Reviewer 1 - Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Phu Loc (Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Education, Can Tho University); Reviewer 2 - Dr. Le Thai Bao Thien Trung (Head of the Department of Mathematical Theory and Methodology, Faculty of Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education) and two other members.
The evaluation meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Dat - Vice President of An Giang University and members of the task force for Mathematics Teacher Education, Faculty of Education.
At the meeting, MSc. Vo Thanh Tai, Deputy Head of Mathematics, representative of the task force, briefly presented the content of the training program in Mathematics Teacher Education, teaching plan, detailed syllabus, setting of training objectives closely aligned with the output standard of education.
Chairman of the Evaluation Council, Dr. Nguyen Van Hong commented that the training program in Mathematics Teacher Education was elaborated and meticulously designed to meet the requirements of teaching and learning. According to him, for the program to be completed, the compilation team needs to update and add some contents such as: the grounds for developing the training program; increasing the number of periods of curricula of teaching methods, applying technology of information and communication in teaching; updating, supplementing with textbooks, reference materials suitable for each module. Other members of the Council also suggested that there are some criteria needed to be followed to make the writing, the explanation and the use of terms in the training program to be properly consistent.
As per result of vote of evaluation by the Council, 5/5 of the votes agreed that the Mathematics Teacher Education training program has met the set requirements.
So far, An Giang University has had two training programs undergone CDIO Evaluation council meetings. In the coming time, the University will continue to evaluate the remaining training sectors.
