On May 21st 2018, An Giang University in collaboration with West Virginia University (WVU), USA organised the Opening Ceremony of the The 13th annual training workshop on Social Work and Community Health Services.
The workshop is to provide the participants with research outcomes in Social Work and Community Health Services and skills to practice community health services for staff, and students of An Giang University, social workers and officials from non-governmental organisations.
Attending the ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang – Rector of An Giang University, Prof. Neal Newfield, Prof. Susan Newfield, and Prof. James Kein –WVU experts in social work and community health services, Mr. Tran Anh Ngoc – An Giang Union of Friendship Organisations, Mr Huynh Huy Hoang – Vice Director of An Giang Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, representatives from An Giang Provincial Departments, and over 100 lecturers and students.

In his opening speech, Rector Vo Van Thang sincerely thanked WVU representatives, especially Prof. Neal Newfield, Prof. Susan Newfield for their support in organising the workshop. The workshop marked the long-lasting partnership of the two institutions with useful training programs in social work for many participants in the past 12 years.

This year training workshop will last from 21/5 to 6/6/2018 with such interesting topics such as (1) Approaching traumatic stress disorder, (2) Listening to the youth’s voices, (3) Innovations in daily life and persistence, (4) Healing strategies, (5) Issues in Awareness – Behaviours, (6) The Practice of Mindfulness
