On 8th September 2018, An Giang University held the 2018 – 2019 Staff Conference with the attendance of Ms. Phan Thi Diem – Head of the An Giang Labour Association and over 600 university staff.
This annual event was held to have feedback from staff and the response from the University Rector Board.



Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang – Rector of An Giang University in his opening speech emphasised that An Giang University had overcome its challenges in the past year and had great achievements. Some successes to be named included highly qualified staff (with 4 Associate Professors, 47 PhD holders, and 433 Masters holders), high teaching quality as being accredited for education and training in 2018 – 2023 period on 19/3/2018, high-quality research outcomes (17 research projects, 9 projects at Ministry and Provincial levels, 249 publications with 22 articles in international journals, 232 conference presentations with 30 presentations at international conferences), broadened international cooperation, and financial aids for students of over three billion VND. The Pedagogical Practice School also had 100% high school graduates and 2 awards for excellent students in national competitions.




The Staff Conference at An Giang University was held at two levels. At Division level, Staff Conferences were held from 23 – 28 August to get feedback from division staff on school policies, documents, and directions in school’s development plans. At School level, the Rector Board and Head of Staff Union reviewed all feedback from divisions for clarifications at the Staff Conference.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang stated the mission for the 2018 – 2019 academic year as Creating effective and innovative education environment with 9 key categories of missions and 121 standards. The Rector sincerely called for collaboration, responsibility, and professional development of the staff for the development of An Giang University and the Mekong Delta in this industrialisation-modernisation- globalisation period.






At the conference, many staff were awarded Certificates of Recognition for their contributions and achievements such as the Certificates of Recognition from An Giang Labour Association for 11 staff and two divisions, Certificates of Recognition from People’s Committee of An Giang Province for 50 staff with excellent achievements in two consecutive years, Certificates of Recognition from An Giang University for 92 staff with excellent research achievements, one staff with outstanding publication on Scopus database journal, one staff with book publications, 90 staff exceeding school’s research requirements, and 75 staff being recognised as emulation officers.
