Overview of An Giang University
An Giang University was established on the basis of An Giang College of Education, in accordance with the Prime Minister's Decision No. 241/1999/QĐ-TTg dated December 30, 1999, as a public training institute in the universities of Vietnam.
On August 13th 2019, An Giang University officially became a member university of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City.
On March 16th 2018, An Giang University was awarded a Certificate of Quality Standard at the Higher Education Institution by the Center for Education Accreditation, National University of Ho Chi Minh City.
From March 2019, An Giang University officially became an associate member of the AUNQA Quality Assurance Network organization under the AUN Network of Southeast Asian Universities.
Occupying a total area of 419,679.5 square meters, the University is built with spacious infrastructure. The University has 30 units including 8 faculties, 2 departments, 10 functional offices, 8 centers, the library and the School of Practical Education with the responsibilty of training human resouces, conducting research, transferring technology and providing community services.
The University has a staff of 819 with 424 teachers (95.51% teachers with graduate degrees). The University has 05 master programs with the program of master in Management of Environment and Resouces developed by CONSEA and Erasmus organization, 39 undergraduate programs in which there are (3 advanced programs), 20 3-year-college programs, 23 in-service training programs.
The University conducted over 624 scientific research topics at all levels; 1 patent granted by World Intellectual Property Organization; published over 1,718 scientific articles in prestigious national and international scientific journals.In addition, the advent of the Journal of Science in 2013 with international standard code has marked a new development of the University in academic publications. In particular, in 2017, the Journal of Science was included in the category of journals scored for scientific contribution by the State Council for Professor Title.
The University signed 77 memorandums of cooperation with institutions and universities from many countries such as USA, UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, Australia, Republic of Ireland, Israel, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Japan. Every year, An Giang University also welcomed and worked with a lot of international delegations and scholars from institutes and universities from developed countries in the world. Since its establishment in 1999, the Uinversity has been continuously developed and updated regional and international movements in higher education.
