On April 27, An Giang University established the institutional Scientific Acceptance Council for the national scientific project "Research on developing the prebiotic production procedure from lactic acid bacteria applied into shrimp feed production in order to reduce the risk of Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease (AHND)”. The project is led by Dr. Nguyen Huu Thanh - Lecturer in Biotechnology Department - Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
The Scientific Acceptance Council had Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Ba, Former Vice President of Institute of Biotechnology, Can Tho University as the Council’s Chairman.
The project aims to develop a procedure of producing prebiotics from lactic acid bacteria (Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus plantarum) and to apply this prebiotic into shrimp feed production to reduce the risk of Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease (AHND) in white shrimp and black tiger shrimp at the larval stage.
The results of the project will provide valuable new scientific data on the ability to accumulate biologically active EPS by culturing under environmental stress conditions.
The Council highly appreciates the scientific and practical significance of the project. The results of the project will be a useful reference for research and teaching in the field of production of biologically active substances by culturing under stress conditions. The project was voted and evaluated as “passed” by the Council and will continue to be accepted at the next levels.
