On 28th May 2021, An Giang University accepted the provincial scientific research project “Research to improve the technical process of tilapia and red tilapia farming to enhance economic efficiency and reduce product costs." This project was led by Dr. Phan Phuong Loan - Vice Dean of Faculty of Agriculture - Natural Resources.
The research project has improved the intensive farming of tilapia and red tilapia in earthen ponds applying in the Mekong Delta. The project aims to reduce production costs by 10 to 15%, to help raise the productivity to at least 15 tons/ha and the farm products to meet export standards according to QCVN 02-26: 2017/BNNPTNT technical parameters such as reducing FCR, increasing survival rate, increasing profits for farmers, linking with at least one enterprise processing and consuming products.
The project manager also proposed orientations and solutions to develop high-quality tilapia and red tilapia production models that meet export standards according to improved farming processes.
The members of the Council contributed ideas to the project manager to edit and complete. The results of the project have opened up excellent prospects for the replication of this farming technology. After completing the report, the results of the project will be transferred to the Department of Science and Technology of An Giang province.
The project was approved according to the voting results by the Council.
