On December 4th 2018, a conference was organized by the An Giang Province department of Industry and Trade to launch the model for pork and vegetable management, identification and traceability. The center for Information and Communication Technology (CICT) of An Giang University (AGU) was the consulting unit and software developer for the models.

The conference is one of the activities under the project "Building models for pork and vegetable management, identification and traceability in An Giang province" approved by the People's Committee in June 2018. The conference welcomed many delegates from provincial departments, businesses and farmers attending.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Le Quoc Cuong - Vice Rector of the AGU, Director of the CICT and Mr. Phan Minh Trung - Deputy Head of Information Technology Office, CICT introduced about the softwares for pork and vegetable management, identification and traceability. These softwares were built on the open source platform in accordance with the Ministry of Information and Communications and operated on a web platform compatible with all devices from the computers to the mobile phones with web browser and internet connection.
The software allows consumers to scan QR codes on product packages or visit the website to look up product information such as product names, places of manufacture , harvest days, product shops, etc. on smartphones. All data is gathered on servers located in the Department of Industry and Trade.
The softwares not only help the relevant units and agencies to manage closely quality of vegetables, fruits and pork but also allow consumers to check and feel secure about the products. At the same time, the models also actively support farmers to build up the farming and breeding process to ensure standards, step by step build a brand of clean products and ensure the quality.

Also in the conference, participants also shared information on developing models for pork and vegetable traceability in An Giang province. The models for closed pig farms meeting the food hygiene and safety standards of C.P. Vietnam Livestock Co., Ltd were also introduced. In addition, the participants were guided how to trace food sources with softwares. Til now, An Giang Province Department of Industry and Trade has deployed softwares for 7 units, enterprises, cooperative groups and implemented trainings on how to use software, login information and look up products information for the units the same time.
In the current trend of globalization, the quality and safety of agricultural products demonstrates the competing capability to survive and expand the market of products. Therefore, along with applying advanced scientific and technical measures to improve the quality and productivity, the application of high technology in production and output management of the product is very necessary. With the software developed by the CICT, An Giang University would like to contribute to the development of agriculture and husbandry in An Giang province in particular and the whole country in general.
