An Giang University welcomes new international students from Laos
On August 31, 2023, An Giang University (AGU), in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training of An Giang Province, organized a welcoming ceremony for five new Laotian students.
The welcoming event was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang, the President of AGU, as well as leaders from university departments. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training and representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Finance were also present. Mr. Vieng Na Khon BOUALAPHAN, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Sports, represented from Champasak province and accompanied the Laotian students.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang, the President, emphasized the international student training is one of the University’s important activities, reflecting the sustainable and friendly cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in general, and the provinces of An Giang and Champasak in particular. An Giang University will cooperate effectively with relevant units to create favorable conditions for students to study and live in their new environment. Additionally, the Rector encouraged Laotian students to actively participate in extracurricular activities and interact with Vietnamese students to improve their Vietnamese language skills for their future majors.
On behalf of the working delegation, Mr. Vieng Na Khon BOUALAPHAN expressed his sincere gratitude for the valuable support from An Giang provincial leaders and An Giang University. He alsso encouraged Laotian students to be self-disciplined and proactive in their studies, aiming for the highest academic achievements to justify the trust placed in them by the leadership.
According to the plan, the five students attend the Vietnamese language training for 12 months before starting their studies at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and the Faculty of Information Technology.
