The reappointment of the President and opening ceremony of the academic year 2022-2023
On October 10th, 2022, An Giang University, VNU-HCM held the Reappointment of the President and Opening Ceremony of the Academic year 2022-2023.
The University was honored to welcome Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chancellor and Chairman of the University Council of VNU-HCM; Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Huong – Member of the Provincial Standing Committee and Head of the Propaganda Department of An Giang Province; H.E. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City; H.E. Sok Dareth, Consul General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City; representatives of the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, the Provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee; President Boards of member universities of VNU-HCM, Provincial Departments and businesses.
At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hai Quan – Chancellor of VNU-HCM presented the re-appointment decision to Assoc. Prof. Vo Van Thang. The Chancellor of VNU-HCM Vu Hai Quan congratulated and expressed his trust and expectations in the efforts and resolves of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang, the leaders of units and lecturers of the University, which will make An Giang University more and more developed, as well as become a prestigious center for training high quality human resources, scientific research and technology transfer, especially in the fields of agriculture and climate change; sustainably develop and effectively contribute to the economic development of the Mekong Delta.
In his speech at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang gave his thanks for the trust of the Party Committee, the Board of Chancellor of VNU-HCM, the Provincial Party Committee, the University Council, and University staff members. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang made his commitments to make efforts and work with dedication and responsibility together with the University leaders in order to unite and reach the full potential of every members, helping An Giang University quickly integrate into the VNU-HCM system and continue to develop.
The President congratulated the freshmen and commended the Valeditorian and Salutatorian, as well as wished the graduate and undergraduate student of the University continue to achieve good results in their study. He also emphasized the core missions of the University in the academic year 2022-2023, which are: Implementing the Scheme for Innovating the Operating Mechanism for the 2023-2027 period; having the solution to integrate well into the VNU-HCM system and improving the image and training quality of the University through collaborations with the local area, domestic and foreign institutions and universities; focusing on effectively implementing large international projects and improving research and publishing capabilities; continuing to perform external assessment for 4 study programmes in FIBAA standards and second phase of external assessment for educational institutions in MOET standards.
In the opening ceremony, the University received more than 3 billion VND sponsorship for scholarships from various units and good wishes from Consulate Generals in Vietnam, domestic and foreign individuals and organizations.
In this occasion, the University awarded scholarships for 2 Valeditorians and 2 Salutatorians of the Highschool Graduation Examination and in the 2022 Aptitude test. Valeditorian Tran Vu Luan of class DH23SU of the Faculty of Education and Valeditorian Le Hiep Nguyen of class DH23TH of the Facultu of Information Technology received the 20 million VND scholarship from the University , the 30 million VND scholarship of the Development Fund of VNU-HCM (for 04 academic year) and the Doan Toi scholarship of the Cooperative Bank of An Giang province, which worths 10 million VND.
