Vietnam Field School 2025 at An Giang University

From January 11 to January 18, 2025, An Giang University, VNU-HCM, warmly welcomed a delegation of faculty members and students from the Australian National University (ANU) to participate in the Vietnam Field School 2025 (VFS-2025). This marks the seventh time An Giang University has hosted the program.

The Vietnam Field School was initiated in 2013 and has been officially hosted by An Giang University since 2016. The program aims to promote cultural exchange, learning, and experience-sharing while providing direct interaction with environmental and social issues. Over the years, VFS has served as a cultural and academic bridge that helps international students better understand Vietnamese rural culture and history, with a focus on An Giang province.

President Vo Van Thang expressed his pleasure in continuing this collaboration with ANU for VFS-2025. He hopes the program will offer valuable and meaningful practical experiences for students while strengthening the long-term partnership between the two institutions.

As part of VFS-2025, ANU students engaged in various activities, including:

  1. Attending a thematic seminar on flood-recession rice cultivation, climate-smart agriculture, and the cultural diversity of An Giang.
  2. Experiencing a floating rice festival in the upper Mekong Delta region, featuring interactions with the local floating rice farming community.
  3. Engaging in hands-on activities related to daily life in My Hoa Hung commune and learning about local livelihood models.
  4. Taking part in cultural exchanges with the residents of Long Xuyên City and students from An Giang University.
