On September 7th, 2018, The Academic Committee of An Giang University evaluated the proposals for two materials authored by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan – Vice Dean of Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources

1. The material entitled “Rice Plant” (Course code: CUL532, credits: 02, intended number of pages: 200, chapters: 07)

After the proposal presentation, the Committee agreed on the significance of the proposed materials in the Plant Science, Plant Protection, and Biotechnology majors. However, the author needed to link the course contents with the materials with an addition of core definitions and technical terms. Also, there was a need to point out the new knowledge of the materials in comparison with the previous such as the integration of Fourth Industrial Revolution, new cultivation models, and new concepts in the field. The author should ensure the logical and educational values as well as suitability with students’ levels. The Committee Chairman suggests adding and updating reference materials, balancing the questions in each chapter, and providing more practice sessions. The material could also be co-authored.

2. The material entitled “Introductory Microbiology” (course code: BIT101, credits: 03, intended number of pages: 200, intended number of chapters: 06) was co-authored by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan (main author) - Vice Dean of Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources and Ms. Le Thi Thuy Hang, Ms. Vang Thi Tuyet Loan, Ms. Bang Hong Lam, and Ms. Tran Kim Hoang.

The evaluation session on the proposal of “Introductory Microbiology” material

After the proposal presentation, the Committee agreed on the significance of the proposed materials in the Plant Science, Plant Protection, Biotechnology, Rural Development, Food Science, Aquaculture, Animal Husbandry, and Environment majors. However, the author needed to add core definitions and technical terms. Also, there was a need to point out the new knowledge of the materials in comparison with the previous. The author should ensure the logical and educational values as well as the provision of review exercises after each lesson.

The two material proposals were approved with revisions by the Committee with 06/06 votes. The Committee also provided useful feedback to revise the proposals for re-submission.
