On May 8 th 2018, An Giang University Academic and Research Committee evaluated two research proposals at school level in Plant Science in 2017 – 2018 academic year.
The first proposal was “Multiplication and Examination on agricultural characteristics of Japanese soybeans in winter-spring crop at An Giang University Laboratory” led by Ms. Vo Thi Xuan Tuyen of Department of Plant Science (Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources). The research aimed at examining the agricultural characteristics of 90 Japanese soybean species.
Ms. Vo Thi Xuan Tuyen of Department of Plant Science presented the research proposal
Ms. Vo Thi Xuan Tuyen – Chief researcher in Japanese soybean species
After the presentation, the Committee suggested changes in the research title as “An investigation into agricultural characteristics of Japanese soybean species at An Giang University laboratory”. The research findings would be applied as references for teaching and learning in Plant Science and Protection. Modifications were also suggested by the Committee. The research proposal was scored 82.25/100 and approved by the Committee.
The second proposal was “An investigation into the resistance ability of Fusarium in floating rice towards pyricularia oryzae” led by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The research aimed at investigating the resistance ability of some genera of Fusarium in floating rice towards pyricularia oryzae and classifying the gennera.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan – Research leader of “An investigation into the resistance ability of Fusarium in floating rice towards pyricularia oryzae”
The Committee suggested changes in the research title as “An investigation into the resistance ability of Fusarium in floating rice towards pyricularia oryzae of rice blast”. The research findings were believed to contribute identifying the resistance ability of local Fusarium genera towards pyricularia oryzae to replace chemical substances for a safe agricultural production. The research could also be used in Plant Science and Protection, and Biotechnology programs. The proposal was scored 82.75/100 and approved by the Committee.
