Youth Union of An Giang University (AGU) collaborated with AGU Library to organize a forum "Methods for Effective English Learning" in the 2020-2021 academic year for new students. It attracted nearly 150 students.
Delivering a speech at the Forum, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Dat, Secretary of AGU’s Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council emphasized the importance of learning foreign languages, particularly English in the integration trend. He confided his journey of mastering English when he was at the university and hoped that new students would strive to study and practice well, especially learning English well to have more job opportunities in the future.
At the Forum, students had a chance to interact with distinguished speakers. They are MA Nguyen Thi Hong Loan, Deputy Director of AGU Library, alumnus in Australia, Mr. Vo Hong Na Uy, AGU’s External Relations Officer, English teacher and Ms. Thai Thi My Chau, Former Student of Foreign Languages Faculty, teacher of English at EPICA Centre for Foreign Languages. The speakers shared their own English learning stories with new students and conveyed many useful experiences on how to overcome difficulties in learning a foreign language, shared their English learning methods in accordance with international standards of foreign languages, how to search for and select documents to improve English effectively; ...
On this occasion, An Giang Provincial Youth Union mobilized sponsors and donated 20 scholarships to AGU students for English learning through Mai Lam English application, with a total value of 80 million VND.
After the program, new students also visited the Library and were introduced resources and services supporting learning English.
