Last weekend, AGU officially opened GEC, a club operating under the supervision of the Union of Students of AGU
GEC was formed with the aim of creating another student network so they will be able to have more chance of discussing and taking actions for eliminating gender discrimination or violence and promoting gender equality.
The opening ceremony was honoured to welcome the presence of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Deputy Secretary of Communists’ Party and also Vice Rector of AGU, and of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Thoa, Representative of Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs, and of all the members of the Executive Board of the Youth Union and of the Union of Students and of about 100 students from different departments in the university.



Giving a speech at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai congratulated on setting up the club and express his desire on its active operation so as to achieve any goals that have been set, particularly those of higher raising awareness of gender equality and protecting people from and fighting against gender violence in the community and society.
The Board of Management of the Club were also introduced to the public, including Ms Nguyen Hong Nhat (Lecturer of Faculty of Engineering - Technology - Environment) - the Chairperson, both Ms Duong Thi Yen Thu (Specialist of Center for Service Management) and Ms Nguyen Thi Xuan Hue (Lecturer of Faculty of Foreign Languages), the vice-chairpersons.
