On June 05 2020, Assoc. Prof. Vo Van Thang, VNU-HCM An Giang University President, chaired a meeting with the delegation of the US General Consulate in Ho Chi Minh city led by Mr Thad Ross – Economic Officer.
Speaking to the delegation, Principal Vo Van Thang thanked the collaboration of the US Consulate General in implementing activities over the past time such as: The English Access Micro-Scholarship; Southeast Asia Young Leaders Initiative Regional Workshop (YSEALI); sponsoring American Hangout Corner at the University Library, etc. The University President expected the relationship between the US General Consulate and An Giang University to be firmer through future projects.
During this visit, the Delegation of US General Consulate would like to learn more about the environmental challenges for the Mekong Delta and An Giang province such as: drought, saline intrusion, erosion and sedimentation, safety of water sources, etc.
The delegation was briefly introduced about the history and strengths of the University in training and research as well as the agricultural and environmental projects that the University's lecturers are implementing.
Mr. Thad Ross highly appreciated the contributions of An Giang University to the development of the Mekong Delta region in general and An Giang province in particular. He informed that on June 25, 2020, there would be an online symposium in the United States on climate change issues in the Mekong Delta. He hoped that the University could nominate scientists to participate in the Conference.
After the meeting, the delegation of the US General Consulate paid a visit to the American Hangout Corner at the University’s Library.
