On the agenda of cooperating with each other in organizing the 4th Service Learning Program between An Giang University (AGU) and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), on the morning of 31st May 2019, AGU hold a welcoming session to delegation of lecturers and students from PolyU.
Welcoming the delegation were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang - the Rector of AGU, representatives of the Office of External Relations, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Resource Center for Community Development (RCCD) and 48 volunteers from Faculty of Foreign Languages. The PolyU’s delegation includes 04 staff who are in charge of Service Learning Program and 24 students.
Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang expressed his thanks to the PolyU’s delegation for appointed their lecturers, students to consult residents in An Giang about nutritious diets and give AGU’s students conditions to take part in this meaningful activity. With the expectation of developing the program further, AGU are willing to cooperate with PolyU in creating groups of specialists in health services in other local places in An Giang Province.
According to a plan, the delegation including lecturers and students from PolyU along with lecturers and students from AGU will take field trips to know further and consult residents in My Hoa Hung Commune, Long Xuyen City and Can Dang Commune, Chau Thanh District about nutritious diets and ways to take care of their health (from 30th May to 7th June 2019). Participating in the program, students had a chance to practice, to share and to improve their knowledge of community health and experienced rural culture and rural life in An Giang thanks to homestay. Students were divided into groups to visit local households to ask, to examine, to instruct them ways to protect their health, and to offer gifts to them.
