On March 5th 2018, An Giang University held a meeting with Elsevier Publisher for MOU signing and discussions on future collaborative projects.
Attending the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Dat – Vice Rector of An Giang University, Head of the Research and International Relations Office, Director of AGU Library, Director of the Resource Center for Community Development and Heads of Academic Departments.
Representing Elsevier Publisher were Ms. Ho Yoke Lian – Executive Manager, Mr. Alexander van Servellen – Elsevier Scopus and Scival Senior Advisor, Ms. Ngo To Hoa – Regional Director of iGroup Asia Pacific Company (Elsevier representative in Vietnam), and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung – Project Development Assistant of iGroup Asia Pacific.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Dat briefly introduced An Giang University and focused on AGU Journal of Science for further advice of Elsevier experts to increase the journal quality and research outputs of AGU academics. The Vice Rector also hoped for an MOU signing ceremony between the two partners in a near future.
AGU representatives also requested training workshops to gain more insights into other prestigious publishers, the challenges when submitting papers for publications with Elsevier and other Scopus journals, Elsevier resources and policies for students, lecturers, and researchers.
Responding to the requests of AGU, Elsevier Publisher representatives shared useful information about Elsevier and Scopus publication process as well as took the demands of AGU into great consideration. To illustrate, Elsevier intended to organise “Trial Training” workshop in May 2018 focusing on Elsevier aims, publication guidelines and procedure. Mr. Alexander van Sevellen briefly instructed the participants to search for materials by authors and article titles on Elsevier database.
The delegates of Elsevier, Scopus, and iGroup highly valued the research outputs of AGU staff which had been published in scholarly Scopus journals.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Dat sincerely thanked Elsevier Publisher delegates and assigned the Research and International Relations Office to proceed the MOU signing and organise the intended workshop with the publisher.
