On April 10th 2018, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang – Rector of An Giang University (AGU) – together with representatives of the Research and International Relations Office, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Faculty of Tourism, Culture and Arts, Resource Center for Community Development, and other school staff had a meeting with AIT in Vietnam (AIT-VN) and Turiba University, Latvia.
An Giang University was honoured to welcome Mr. Emants Berg – Vice Rector of Turiba University and Mr. Stephen Jones – Advisor of Turina University, Dr. Fredric W. Swierczek – Director of AIT-VN, and specialists of AIT.

On behalf of An Giang University, the Rector sincerely thanked AIT-VN for introducing AGU to Turiba University, one of the five largest educational institutions in Latvia for joint training programs in International Business, Tourism and Hospitality.
An Giang University and Turiba University agreed on collaborative programs for implementation in 2018, specifically the summer course and student exchange programs for An Giang University in Tourism, Economics and Foreign Languages and other short courses for students of Turiba University at An Giang University, with a focus on An Giang culture and religious tourism.

For joint training programs, the Rector of An Giang University assigned the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration to keep in touch with Turiba University for further discussions on the program curriculum. The Faculty of Tourism, Culture, and Arts was also assigned for further discussions on joint program in Tourism.
The Resource Center for Community Development together with AIT-VN continued to discuss on collaborative projects on environment and climate change and short courses in English for Tourism for staff of An Giang Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and Leadership Skills for Staff of An Giang Department of Internal Affairs.

The Research and International Relations Office would discuss with Turiba University to clarify the previously negotiated points in 2018 between the two institutions. From that, collaboration in training and research in tourism and economics would be carried out as discussed in the meeting.
On April 11th 2018, staff of the Research and International Relations Office took the delegates for a visit the classes and a meeting with Heads of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and Faculty of Tourism, Culture and Arts for future collaboration as suggested by Turiba University.
