On 19th April 2019, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-France Friendship Association cooperated with Institut d’Echanges Culturels avec la France (IDECAF), Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, An Giang University and other provincial units in hosting French Cultural Week in An Giang Province. This activity attracted many lecturers and students in An Giang University to attend.
French Cultural Week in An Giang Province aimed to promote the close-knit relationship between France and Vietnam generally, and An Giang especially. The program gave An Giang residents, especially civil servants, lecturers and students in An Giang University an opportunity to know further about France, French people and culture and to access to studying abroad in France.
As for delegates, there came to the program Bertrand Lortholary - the French Ambassador in Vietnam, Mrs. Nguyen Ngoc Lan - the president of IDECAF in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khanh - a photographer from Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nicolas Cornet - a photographer from France. As for delegates of An Giang Province, attending the program were Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Chairman of the An Giang People’s Committee, Mrs. Tran Thi Thanh Huong - the president of the Central Propaganda Department, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet - the Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee in An Giang Province and leaders of provincial departments, An Giang People's Committee and representatives of media units. As for An Giang University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Dat - The Vice Rector of An Giang University along with many lecturers and students who love French culture.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Chairman of the An Giang People’s Committee delightfully welcomed the French Embassy and emphasized the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and France in many fields, especially in education. Up to now, the cooperative relationship between An Giang and representatives of France had positive results in training and education. Since 2012, An Giang University has signed memoranda of understanding with French universities and accepted French students and researchers to learn and study in the university. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh shared that French Cultural Week will greatly contribute to French culture and language promotion in An Giang, helping the cooperative relationship between Vietnam- France.
Mr. Bertrand Lortholary - the French Ambassador in Vietnam expressed his honor when visiting An Giang University. He also emphasized that cultural cooperation is a notable issue in the relationship of cooperation and development of two countries. In regarding to education, the French Ambassador happily welcomed students studying abroad in France. On the other hand, that Vietnamese exchange student community in France is a second ranked Asian students community showed close-knit developing relationship between two countries in this field. Mr. Bertrand Lortholary shared that he was very satisfied with common achievements of two sides and wanted more than that to give Vietnamese students with desire of studying abroad in France more opportunities .
This program was a chance for students not only to hear Nguyen Xuan Khanh and Nicolas Cornet sharing their working experiences but also to know more about invisible things of photos. Besides, the opening ceremony of French Cultural Week also assisted students to approach to French cultural and to equip themselves with knowledge of this beautiful country.
