Recently, on the occasion of the working trip in Ho Chi Minh City, Assoc.Prof. Vo Van Thang - President of An Giang University (AGU- VNUHCM) had a visit and worked with DAAD Information Center Ho Chi Minh City (DAAD).

Speaking at the meeting, President Vo Van Thang thanked Dr. Berndt Tilp - Director of DAAD and other members for warmly and thoughtfully welcoming the delegation as well as reviewed the outstanding activities that AGU-VNUHCM and the DAAD had implemented over the past 10 years. Thanks to the support from the DAAD, AGU-VNUHCM had many opportunities to access the information resources and programs funded by the German Government for education and research. There have been many lecturers and students to be honorably awarded scholarships to study in Germany through these programs. In the upcoming time, AGU-VNUHCM hopes to have support from DAAD in organizing online workshops and seminars for its lecturers and students as well as in connecting with German and Vietnamese institutes, universities to create conditions for its lecturers and students to participate in doing research, learning, practicing ...
Dr. Berndt Tilp - Director of DAAD expressed special thanks to the AGU delegation for visiting and working with DAAD. He also shared the common difficulties faced by foreign organizations and the DAAD during the COVID-19 epidemic phase when many study and exchange programs were interrupted. He also pointed out two new strategies of the DAAD organization in the coming time including digitizing programs and cutting costs for short-term programs. He suggested that AGU should catch up with this trend to plan its exchange programs and work with German institutes, schools and organizations. He also affirmed that DAAD would remain the focal point linking AGU with German partners and AGU would be always a top concern in the development policy of DAAD Vietnam.
At the end of the meeting, the AGU delegation was honored to visit the Deutsches Haus - the pioneer high-class building in Vietnam and one of few buildings in Southeast Asia awarded with two energy efficiency certificates: LEED Platinum (from the US Green Building Council) and DGNB Gold (from the German Sustainable Building Council). This is a prominent German project in Vietnam and Southeast Asia and is also seen as a strategic cooperation and friendship between Germany and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
