Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang - President of An Giang University (AGU) and leaders of the External Relations Office, Faculty of Foreign Languages and Library attended the Book Hand-over Ceremony sponsored by the Nippon Foundation. This program is a part of the READ JAPAN PROJECT (which promotes greater understanding of contemporary Japan).

This is an event jointly organized by the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, the Japan Science Society and the Nippon Foundation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Yohei Sasakawa - Chairman of The Nippon Foundation hoped that through the donated books this time, readers could savor Japan in all its fascinating aspects, from ancient times to the present. He hoped that the READ JAPAN PROJECT would serve as a catalyst for further strengthening of ties between Vietnam and Japan and also encourage young people in Vietnam to work to promote the friendly relations between the two countries.
This year, the number of universities awarded in this project in Vietnam is the highest compared to other countries in the world and AGU is honored to be one of the 9 universities in Vietnam chosen for this project (including: An Giang University, Vietnam - Japan University, VNU-Hanoi University of Languages and International Studies, VNU-Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ba Ria - Vung Tau University, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages - Information Technology, University of Technology - VNU HCM and Nha Trang University).
After the Ceremony, there was a special lecture for researchers at universities related to the "JICA Chair" program and the "READ JAPAN PROJECT" implemented by the Nippon Foundation in the year 2020-2021. The program attracted 265 participants who are leaders/lecturers/officers from universities, colleges, Japanese research institutions and enterprises, and there were 51 lecturers and students from AGU attending this event.
