On the morning of February 20, 2017, at meeting room No.4 of the Rector's Hall, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between An Giang University (AGU) and the Asian Institute of Technology in Vietnam (AIT-VN).
Attending the Signing ceremony was the presence of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bich Hoa - Deputy Director of AIT-VN, Prof. Nguyen Cong Thanh - Director Advisor, and staff of the Institute; on behalf of AGU was Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang - Principal, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Dat - Vice Principal leaders of affiliated units.
The Memorandum was signed to promote cooperation between AGU and AIT-VN on the fields of mutual interest and will be effective for three years. The terms of cooperation for each of the activities stated in the memorandum will be discussed and agreed in the future. In the short term, AIT-VN has proposed to the AGU to cooperate in Master training in Climate change, short-term courses and writing proposals for international funding.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang, Principal of AGU said that the field of climate change is attracting interest of An Giang and other provinces as well. The school will closely cooperate with AIT-VN to develop and implement training programs suitable with the practical demands and conditions of the locality and the region. AIT-VN can assist AGU in integrating topics of climate change into its teaching on students of AGU, and on those of School of Practical Education. The principal also added, AGU is focusing on improving the quality of training, through the application of CDIO training programs, implementation of AUN assessment, carrying out some study modules in English, extending of post graduate training links, etc. and preparing for the evaluation the grounds of university education.
It is known that AIT is a graduate training institute with headquarter located in Bangkok (Thailand). The strength of the institute is research and training of specializations in technology, environment and construction project management. With the Memorandum just signed, it is hoped that the cooperation between the two sides will be increasingly strengthened in order to develop the human resources of An Giang and the Mekong Delta.
