In order to facility students to update new technologies, the Faculty of Information Technology of An Giang University organized a workshop on "Blockchain in Agriculture and Smart Cities".
The workshop was accompanied by the representative research teams of Blockchain technology from the University of Technology. Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon University, Hoa Sen University, Transportation University, Lac Hong University and Infinity Blockchain Labs (IBL) company.
In the Industrial Revolution 4.0, Blockchain is considered a “key” technology for digital transformation and building future information technology platform. Blockchain is a technology that stores and transmits information by interconnecting blocks together and expanding them over time. With the ability to share data information transparently in real time and to save storage space with high security, Blockchain technology is one of the trends of technological breakthroughs, which can be widely applied in many sectors and fields.
The workshop is a part of a collaborative and support project that IBL is implementing with universities across the country within the framework of the Blockchain Country Vietnam project, which aims to strengthen training activities on Blockchain and enhance quality of human resources in this potential field.
The workshop was centered on technological solutions in developing information technology applications in agriculture in the Mekong Delta, as well as potential applications in the development trend for of smart e-government and smart cities.
The workshop was divided into 2 main sessions:
The first session “Blockchain and modern agriculture” provided a general and multidimensional vision, potential and application of Blockchain in agriculture in Vietnam, including topics such as IoT solutions in hi-tech agriculture; Blockchain application in retrieving the agricultural products like bananas, sticky rice and especially mangos.
The second session "Blockchain and Smart Cities" focused on building and deploying a smart urban model on the basis of modern Blockchain technology, including the support system on verifying certificates, the decentralized support system in active teaching. The proposed solutions are the premise to develop a platform that allows citizens to live and participate in learning in the smart cities’ training centers.
The workshop is a great opportunity for experts, researchers, educational administrators and students in the Mekong Delta to exchange knowledge and learn more about Blockchain technology; as well as the opportunities and challenges in applying Blockchain to the development of smart and sustainable urban models, particularly in education and training.
