On 26 October 2018, An Giang University collaborated with The U.S. Consulate General Ho Chi Minh City to held a workshop on education and scholarship opportunities in the U.S.

Attending the workshop were Mr. Matthew Alexander Ference – Public Affairs Officer of The U.S. Consulate General, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai – Vice Rector of An Giang University, Ms. Phan Thi Hong Man – EducationUSA Advisor, Ms. Le Thi Kim Muon – Cultural Affairs Assistant, staff and students of An Giang University.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai – Vice Rector sincerely thanked the delegation from The U.S. Consulate General for introducing the scholarships to the students and hoped that AGU students would successfully apply for those scholarships. He also hoped for future cooperation with the U.S. Consulate General.

Mr. Matthew Alexander Ference and staff from The U.S. Consulate introduced the scholarships and opportunities to study in the U.S. The presenters emphasized on the strategies to help strengthen the candidates’ profiles for scholarship application such as English language tests (IELTS or TOEFL), leadership, community service, and extra-curricular activities.

The alumni also shared their experience in scholarship application and the benefits of studying in the U.S. The workshop brought such useful information to the participants and motivated them to try harder and be more confident in applying for scholarships in the future.

1. SOUTHEAST ASIA YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (SEAYLP) 2019 The U.S. Mission to Vietnam seeks candidates for the 2019 Southeast Asia Youth Leadership Program (SEAYLP). Students in grades 10 and 11 at Vietnamese high schools who demonstrate leadership through academic work, community involvement and extracurricular activities, and proficiency in English are invited to apply for the program. Up to five scholarships are available for Vietnamese students. The application deadline is 11:59PM, Sunday, December 9, 2018.

2. YOUNG SOUTHEAST ASIAN LEADERS INITIATIVE (YSEALI) ACADEMIC FELLOWSHIP - The U.S. Mission to Vietnam seeks candidates for the spring 2019 Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Academic Fellowship on civic engagement, environmental issues, and social entrepreneurship and economic development. Vietnamese citizens between the ages of 18 and 25, full-time undergraduate students or those who have graduated from college, university, or other institutions of higher learning, who demonstrate strong leadership qualities and potential in their university or place of work, an interest in community service and volunteerism, and have a good command of English, are invited to apply for the program. The application deadline is 11:59PM, Sunday, November 11, 2018.

3. The YSEALI Professional Fellows Program provides emerging leaders ages 25-35 the opportunity to spend five weeks in the United States, including four weeks working directly with American counterparts in individually tailored work placements with relevant private and/or public sector organizations.
