On April 28th 2018, Department of Literature – Faculty of Education, An Giang University held a workshop on “Issues in Literature, Linguistics, and Literature Education in accordance with high school educational reform”. This annual workshop was held at the provincial level for the first time and seen as a forum for researchers and educators to report their research in Literature, Linguistics, and Literature Education following high school educational reforms; thereby improve the quality of Literature Education at An Giang University and high schools in An Giang province.
Attending the workshop were Ms. Phan Thi Yen – Head of Education Office of Long Xuyen City, Mr. Nguyen Van Khuong – Vice Dean of Faculty of Education, lecturers of Department of Literature, Department of Primary Education, Students Affairs Office, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Center, high school teachers in Long Xuyen, and over 100 Literature-major students.

After two months calling for papers, over 40 papers were submitted, and eight of which were selected for presentations at the workshop. The presentations focused on integrating culture and literature into teaching foreign literature at high school; current practices of Reception Theory in teaching folk literature at high schools in Long Xuyen City; teaching literary works at high schools using reader-response model, and examining Literature Education curriculum at high school for modifications, etc.

Ms. Tran Ngoc Minh – Teacher at Nguyen Hien High School presented about teaching litearture at high schools using reader-response model
The workshop also addressed issues about authors, literary works and genres at high schools; linguistics and research orientation, suggestions to develop students’ qualities and capacities, experience in dealing with education-related problems in teaching Literature, etc.
The workshop was expected to provide much useful information in research in Literature, Linguistics, and Literature Education in response to high school educational reform.
